The best starting point for a belt size is the place you will actually wear it. Measure around your trousers at that height, then compare the result with the LA BOUCLE size guide and the options on your chosen product.
How to measure for a belt
- Stand straight and wear trousers that fit you comfortably. Remove your belt.
- Wrap a flexible measuring tape around your waist at the height where the belt will sit.
- Keep the tape straight and horizontal around the whole circumference.
- Read the measurement and compare it with the waist-size range in our size chart.
A belt worn with low-rise jeans may sit at a different point from one worn with higher-waisted trousers. Measuring in the clothes you plan to wear gives a more useful starting point than relying on a trouser label alone.
Understand the measurements in the size guide
Our size guide distinguishes waist size from belt length. The unstretched belt length is measured from the buckle to the tip without stretching the braid. The stretched length uses the maximum comfortable stretch. Use the waist-size range in the chart to choose your fit, rather than treating the maximum stretched length as a target.
Check the options on the individual belt
Size labels can differ between collections and products. You may see Small, Medium and Large, or model names such as Petite, Originale and XXL. Select from the options shown on the belt you want, then consult the size guide for the relevant measurements. Where Petite 25mm appears, pay attention to the model and width as well as the fit information.
Braided stretch or Hybrid Smart?
Traditional braided stretch belts use a buckle pin that fastens through the weave. That gives you adjustment without a fixed row of holes, while the braid brings flexibility. Choosing a suitable size still determines how much belt remains beyond the buckle.
Hybrid Smart belts use a different adjustable clasp construction and are offered as one-size designs. Read the individual product description rather than applying a stretch-belt size label to every style.
Choose the finish after the fit
Once you have checked your measurement, compare the colours, braid and finishing pieces. Leather Stretch offers a different texture from a textile Mono braid, while buckle colours can change the overall look with the same pair of trousers.
If you are unsure which option corresponds to your measurement, contact our team with the product name and your waist measurement. You can then choose the style and colour knowing how the fit is intended to work.
